I have been plagued by lower back pain for many years. I went through countless treatments, therapy and even spinal injections to relieve the pain. I have always thought myself to be relatively fit but with the pain came depression and weight gain. I would go to that other gym and workout pushing weights and doing cardio. I thought I was doing well but I never was motivated or saw any significant results. Fast forward to October, 2014. My good friend and coworker (Marlise Rael) coerced me into signing up for a free trial week. So I did and signed up for my first class. Yes…. it was Stink and Drink! How could I resist a free beer! I showed up feeling awkward and even apprehensive but I was immediately welcomed and reassured that it would be fun. Well (Jessica Harper) was right! I may not have been a pro on the Ryder bikes. In fact I looked like pretty ungainly, but I did my best and earned that free beer. From that moment I was hooked and I didn’t even know what the other classes were like. I couldn’t wait to try them out. Since that first day I realized that Endorphin was much more than a gym. It is a community of positive people of all ages.
My first introduction to Chris Lindley was at Stanley BootCamp. “How hard could this be?” I thought to myself. Flipping tires, climbing stairs with a fire extinguisher, running around the building and hand stands……no problem. Yeah…I hurt for days and once again couldn’t wait to do more!
I have now lost almost 30 lbs and several pant sizes. I feel so much better both physically and mentally. My confidence has increased, my appearance has changed and I am now motivated to exercise on a daily basis. Procrastination is easy when not motivated. Now I feel guilty if I miss a class! It has become an addiction and “movement is our drug” couldn’t be truer.
I recently completed the Spartan Sprint with fellow Endo-holics! I have never done anything like it before and I credit Endorphin for preparing me for it. Without the incredible guidance and dedication of Sara Kemis, Briana Christine, Paige Milstein, Anna Garske, Chris Lindley and all of the other instructors, this accomplishment for me would not have happened. You guys know how to “bring it” each and every class.
My journey is just beginning and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Oh…and by the way…I have had almost zero back pain since starting!!! Thank you Endorphin.
