words by Andrew Gelber – Kinesis Instructor/CPT

We all have our own reasons for exercising. Some people do it for fun, socializing, and meeting new people. Some people do it for the competition within themselves and others. Some people do it for achieving a particular look or image. Some people do it to prolong their life. Some people do it so they can eat whatever they want. The reasons go on and on and on…

Well, guess what? There is no wrong reason to do it! But let’s be honest and practical for a moment… Exercise is just a way to get the body moving. However simple or complex an exercise is, you’re using your body to execute the movement. We tend to forget how beautiful and amazing the human body is when it’s being utilized. We take for granted the radical stuff we can do with it. We sometimes don’t use it at all. I can tell you this for certain, you’re happier when you’re in motion. That’s where we, trainers, come into play (pun fully intended)…

When you come to Endorphin, you’ve already taken the first few steps to progressing your day and yourself. You’ve woken up. You’ve put your fitness gear on. You’ve made the trek to the location of your class. You’ve prepared yourself for exercise. You’ve opened yourself up to your instructor and fellow Endo’s for whatever movements you’re about to encounter. Well, to me, that’s a win in itself! Getting you out of your comfort zone is our job as trainers at Endorphin. We want you to get to that wall and then break through it! Overcoming that discomfort with additional effort is a sign of progress. Practice makes perfect and perfect makes progression… It’s such an amazing feeling to see our students progress.

So, what is The Real Reason we all exercise, you ask? To feel accomplished. To achieve. To progress. When you get to the end of any class, you should feel great. You should feel those endorphins flowing… You should give yourself and your classmates a high five. You’ve used the greatest machine on this planet to the best of its ability. Next time, you’ll push it harder… You’ll find that next wall to bust through!
